Feminism and Gender Identity

I examine many identity issues in my work, including assumptions based on gender and male/female roles and expectations. I am especially interested in stereotypes, taboos and sexual roles and ideals. By making artworks about taboos, I seek to encourage viewers to think and talk about those subjects that they may or may not otherwise address. By making art about menstruation, for example, I hope to help demystify this natural function of the female body and encourage more women to find ways to celebrate their own cycles, and consequently their own bodies, through art.
