I installed this piece on Saturday, March 29, 2008 in St. Louis, Missouri at the walking overpass over I-55 just north of the Reavis Barracks exit. I created this piece to submit to TubeArts in response to the question, "Is there a place for art in the digital revolution?" to which my answer is an emphatic "YES!" I genuinely believe that art is everywhere and should not be limited to any specific audience, media, technique or any other criteria we wish to impose upon it. In this work, I am reflecting on art beyond the gallery scene. There are multitudes of creative people who never show their art in the formal gallery setting and yet make some wonderful and amazing contributions to the arts and to life as a whole. Some are outsider artists who lack formal training while others, though formally trained, find that they can connect with a wider range of people outside of the formal art world setting. This is a Creative Commons project - please feel free to recreate Art Is Everywhere wherever you like. If you do, please post a video response to this video on YouTube. You will need 196 9-ounce plastic drinking cups and a walking overpass with good visibility. ![]() Art Is Everywhere by Jennifer Weigel is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 United States License. |
