I created Sustenance as a continuing exploration into the nature of the art opening reception as an event for Flight Risk at Mad Art Gallery in August 2007. For Sustenance, all of the reception accoutrements (flowers, napkins, finger foods...) were placed on pedestals and presented as sculptural pieces unto themselves. Each piece was displayed "Courtesy of the Artist" with its own show tag detailing the artist (who made the food), title of the piece (what the food was called), and medium (a breakdown of included foods).
