I think that it's important for artists to connect with the outdoors and work outside. I find it especially relevant in our modern times, since many people do not even need to spend much time outdoors as they go from their houses to their cars to their workplaces and back again. I also find it fitting to create works en plein air as a call to environmental action. If we don't seek to preserve our natural world and continue to misuse and abuse it as we have, we may not have the opportunity to create such artworks in the future. By working in and about the outdoors, artists can better appreciate the beauty and resources that nature offers to us and can encourage art viewers and patrons to reflect upon our natural world and our place in it. Here are some photos of my solo show, En Plein Air. | |
