Many of my artworks reflect upon the nature of the world in which we live while incorporating a Midwestern aesthetic. I am especially interested in crowded, dark, forgotten spaces, like my mother's attic or the cellar of my father's house. I like to study how these spaces are organized. Just how do people arrange the spaces that they don't want to be seen, and just how do those spaces arrange themselves? I enjoy the sense of disintegration that comes from within these spaces. This can be found in many places, including the dry smell of collected dust that inhabits an attic or the dank smell of decay that permeates a cellar. | |
