By making artworks about taboo subjects, I seek to encourage viewers to think and talk about those things that they may or may not otherwise address. I personally feel that silence is not a solution and so find it important to explore such topics through art as a means of starting conversations. Such works can include political, religious and sexual commentary and satire or simply be of a graphic or suggestive nature. By making art about menstruation, for example, I hope to help demystify this natural function of the female body and encourage more women to find ways to celebrate their own cycles, and consequently their own bodies, through art.
