I write poetry to work through my grievances and to express things that I feel simply must be put into words to be best understood. Writing, like creating artwork, is a cathartic act and allows me an opportunity to express my ideas in other ways.
Many of my poems are written in free verse, although some do contain more formal aspects of writing such as rhyme and meter. I prefer not to restrict myself to a formal method, instead creating a more emotional response based on pure moods.
Much of my writing has a humorous bent to it, in part because I enjoy playing around with words and their meanings. Humor is also an excellent healing mechanism, and this is reflected in my art as well as my poetry.
Although some of my work has been published, writing remains an activity that I do mostly for my own enjoyment and not so much as an outward form of expression.
