Bio

I was born in Centralia, Illinois on July 9, 1977 and moved to St. Louis, Missouri with my mother when I was five years old. I graduated from Parkway North High School in 1995 and began an undergraduate art degree in fiber at the Kansas City Art Institute, where I studied for two years.

I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art, Alternative Media from Webster University, graduating with departmental honors, in May 2002. I currently reside in St. Louis, Missouri with my husband and two cats.

My work has been exhibited nationally by both traditional and non-traditional means and has won numerous awards.

Process

As a predominantly conceptual mixed media artist, I work in a wide range of media to convey my ideas, including assemblage, drawing, fibers, installation, jewelry, painting, performance and video. Much of my art is cathartic in nature, allowing me to both celebrate my joys and vent my grievances. I find that both personal expression and public communication are vital to my healing process, and many of my artworks require viewers to bear witness or sometimes even physically participate in their completion. As such, I touch on a wide array of themes in my work and have organized this gallery by recurring themes.
